HKBU has recently become the first institutional member in Hong Kong and the Mainland of the Global Alliance for Inter- and Transdisciplinarity (ITD Alliance). By joining the ITD Alliance’s extensive network, HKBU will further enhance its transdisciplinary initiatives and share its experiences in transdisciplinary education.

Established in 2019, the ITD Alliance aims to strengthen and promote the global capacity and the calibre of collaborative modes of boundary-crossing research and practice. It currently has 37 institutional and more than 450 individual members worldwide.

To facilitate the exchange of ideas, share best practices, and explore collaboration on innovative transdisciplinary teaching and learning, the Division of Transdisciplinary Undergraduate Programmes and Centre for Holistic Teaching and Learning at HKBU hosted the Pacific Asia Summit on Transdisciplinary Education 2025 on 27 June on campus.

Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) of HKBU , delivered the opening remarks at the Summit. The speakers included representatives from higher education institutions in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Singapore and India. Among them was Professor William Cheung, Associate Vice-President (Transdisciplinary Education) of HKBU.
