Marty McCord - Director of Associational Missions-DOAM
Bro. Marty McCord became our DOAM in September 2005. He and his wife, Karen, have purchased a home in Altamont and are seeking God's direction for outreach and evangelism in Southeast Kansas. They have three children: Jill and Randy McAbee, Aaron & Kim McCord, and Alisha McCord. They have two special grandsons, Ryan and Jase McAbee. A new grandbaby is due in 2008
Bro. Marty has had a busy summer with our 13th Annual Mission Trip to Macy Indian Reservation in Nebraska where the team of 110 members worked hard for one week in VBS, Construction projects, evangelism, revival, and outreach. This year the team was under the direction of Jeff Street, Tommy Hinson, and Bro. Marty McCord. There were at least 5 children saved during VBS and many lives were touched for the sake of the Gospel. This outreach to Macy included people from Tri-County, Twin Valley, and South Central Associations in SE Kansas plus folks from Missouri and Oklahoma. God is blessing this ministry.
He spent time at each of the 6 camping sessions held at Weir Baptist Camp in Weir, Kansas. With the division of Senior High and Junior High Camps we increased our capacity to house more campers and to directly teach and disciple of the spiritual level of each age group. Both camps were very successful in reaching souls for Christ. The flooding affected several of our camps due to the roads being closed and then once they were opened, families including many campers had homes ruined by the flood waters and camp wasn't even in the picture at that time.
Disaster Relief teams have been in many areas of SE Kansas due to the record setting flood waters that ravages through our towns. Bro. Marty worked with KNCSB Disaster Relief, coordinating the relief efforts with area churches and workers. This included feeding units, mud-out teams, and housing. It's been a busy summer! Thank God for volunteers in many areas throughout the summer.
